Jannik Sinner has been one of tennis’ rising stars for a few years and now his coach believes he has the tools to win the biggest titles in the sport.

The 21-year-old is currently at a ranking high of No.8 in the world and has won 21 out of 26 matches played so far this season before the start of the Monte Carlo Masters. In February he won the Sud de France which was the seventh Tour title of his career. The Italian has also reached the final of the Rotterdam Open and Miami Masters.

One of those guiding Sinner on the Tour is Simone Vagnozzi who is a former professional player himself that reached a ranking best of No.74 in doubles. Vagnozzi, who has also previously worked with Marco Cecchinato and Stefano Travaglia, has been a member of the team since February 2022. Speaking to Sky Italy, the 39-year-old has made a bold claim about his compatriot.

Jannik is ready to win a Grand Slam,” Vagnozzi declared. “I think in a single match he can beat anyone. In a best-of-five-set tournament, the difference can be to be able to save more energy during the tournament.”

Sinner has already enjoyed moderate success at the major events by reaching the quarter-finals of all of them. The youngest player before him to achieve this milestone was Novak Djokovic between 2007 and 2008. However, he has struggled on the Tour when it comes to playing against the top names. He is 4-18 against top-five players but three of those wins have been recorded this year.

He has reached the quarterfinals in every Grand Slam tournament, the toughest matches come to the end (of the tournament) and therefore you need to have that experience to manage your energies in the final rounds. These two tournaments (Indian Wells and Miami) will definitely help him in the future.”Vagnozzi commented on Sinner’s recent form.
I think he’s ready: the most important thing is that he now has continuity of results at a high level. Even in terms of performance. So when the opportunity arises, I think he’ll be ready to take it.” He added.

Sinner returns to action on Tuesday at the Monte Carlo Masters where he will play Diego Schwartzman in the first round. He is currently 17-1 against players outside of the top 20 this season.
