Bianca Andreescu is into the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after coming back to beat the American wild card Peyton Stearns 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in two hours and 24 minutes.
The Toronto native served three aces and won 61% of her first serve points in a match where she had to fight back to secure the win.
Andreescu managed to get the first break in the first game of the match but at 2-1, the American broke back, and at 5-4 broke the Canadian once again to seal the first set.
The second set stayed on serve until 3-2 when the number 32 seed got the break and that was enough for her to serve out the second set and force a deciding third set.
Winning the second set motivated Andreescu and she jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third set and was able to serve out the match at 5-3 to seal the victory.
She will next face the world number one Iga Swiatek in the third round after the Pole only needed 65 minutes to beat Claire Liu 6-0, 6-1.
