Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from Indian Wells as he continues to rehab his injury.
The Spaniard hasn’t been seen on court since his straight sets second round exit to Mackenzie McDonald at the Australian Open.
This is as Nadal continues to recover from injury that he suffered at the Australian Open.
Despite their being video footage of Nadal training yesterday, it seems the Spaniard will now focus on the clay court season as he has withdrawn from Indian Wells.
Confirming the news, Indian Wells tournament director Tommy Haas wished Nadal the best of luck with his rehab, “We wish Rafa continued healing, and hope to see him back at the BNP Paribas Open next year,” Haas said in a press release.
This means that Nadal’s 18 year stint as a top ten player is almost certain to end next month as he defends final points from last year.
Now Nadal’s preparations will continue ahead of the clay court season which is rumoured to start in Monte-Carlo.
As for Indian Wells, the event will start next Thursday with some of the world’s top players taking to court in California.
