Czech teenager Linda Noskova is into the Adelaide final to play Aryna Sabalenka after edging out Ons Jabeur.
Noskova had already beaten Daria Kasatkina and Victoria Azarenka in the tournament and added Ons Jabeur to her list of scalps.
Despite Jabeur struggling with a back injury, Noskova put in a clinical display to defeat the Tunisian 6-3 1-6 6-3 to reach the final.
The world number 102 had only two top 100 wins heading into this week but has now claimed two top ten wins within a week.
After the match Noskova claimed that neither player played their best tennis but is glad to be in the final, “Definitely a tough match,” Noskova was quoted as saying by TennisMajors.
“I don’t think either of us played 100 per cent so I’m glad I got the last point to win, and really glad to play like this.”
Now the 18 year-old will look for her third top ten win this week as she takes on Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
Sabalenka cruised past Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3 6-2 in the other semi-final and is now looking for her 11th career WTA singles title but her first since 2021.
Speaking after the victory Sabalenka praised her level this week and is pleased to be in the final, “I’m happy with the level I played, especially with [Begu’s] different game, she’s playing a little bit of a different style,” Sabalenka told the WTA website.
“I’m super happy that I was able to win this match. Probably we did everything right in the pre-season. I think this is the key.”
The other final will see Coco Gauff take on Rebeka Masarova in Auckland with Gauff reaching her first final since Roland Garros.
