Tim Henman and Lleyton Hewitt are among team captains for the inaugural United Cup

Tim Henman, Lleyton Hewitt, Agnieszka Radwanska and Gisela Dulko will captain teams at the inaugural edition of the United Cup, a new annual mixed team event, which will be held across three Australian cities -Brisbane, Perth and Sidney. 

The United Cup will kick off the 2023 tennis season from 29 December. 

Former world number 2 Radwanska will captain the Polish team, which will be led by 2021 Miami Masters 1000 champion Hubert Hurkacz and Iga Swiatek, who won two Roland Garros titles in 2020 and 2022 and the US Open title in 2022. 

Tim Henman will captain the British team which features 2021 Indian Wells champion Cameron Norrie, Daniel Evans and Harriet Dart. Henman reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 1998 becoming the first British player to  achieve this feat in 25 years. The former British player advanced to three more semifinals at the Championships in 1999, 2001 and 2002. 

Former doubles world number 1 and 2011 Australian Open doubles champion Gisela Dulko will captain Argentina, who have been drawn against Croatia and France in Group F. 

Former world number 4 Iva Majoli will lead the Croatian team, who will be led by 2022 Cincinnati Masters 1000 champion Borna Coric and Donna Vekic. 

Former world number 3 doubles player Marc Lopez will captain a strong Spanish team, that includes 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal and 2021 Indian Wells champion Paula Badosa, Pablo Carreno Busta and Albert Ramos Vinolas. 

Vincenzo Santopadre will oversee Italy, who features 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini, this year’s Hamburg and Neaples champion Lorenzo Musetti and this year’s Roland Garros semifinalist Martina Trevisan. 

Former world number 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion Lleyton Hewitt and former world number 4 Samantha Stosur will lead the Australian team, who will play against Spain and Great Britain in Group D in Sydney. Stosur is one of the playing captains to play in this year’s edition of the United Cup. 

Grand Slam doubles champion Edouard Roger Vasselin will lead the French team, who features 2022 WTA Finals champion Caroline Garcia, Alizé Cornet, Arthur Rinderknech and Adrian Mannarino.  

Stan Wawrinka will oversee the Swiss team, that features Marc Andrea Huesler and Next Gen Dominic Stricker. 

The other playing captains are Alexander Bublik for Kazakhstan, Grigor Dimitrov for Bulgaria and Kirsten Flipkens for Belgium.
