Kamil Majchrzak’s bid to clear his name of wrongdoing has taken a blow after a media source in Poland confirmed he has failed a doping control conducted by his national agency.

Earlier this month it was announced that the world No.77 has been provisionally suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after testing positive for banned substances. In a press release, it was confirmed that Majchrzak’s samples taken during tournaments in Japan, Bulgaria and South Korea detected the illegal substances SARM S-22, LGD-4033 and PPARδ. These are all non-Specified substances listed in the 2022 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) that are Prohibited.

Now in a new development, it has emerged that the 26-year-old has failed a separate doping control which was conducted by the Polish Anti-Doping Agency (POLADA) on November 9th this year. Rzeczpospolita, which is a daily economic and legal newspaper published in Poland, has quoted their sources as saying that the latest doping test has detected yet another banned substance in Majchrzak’s system which would be the fourth overall. The name of that substance has not been announced.

As a result of the latest finding, it is possible that the tennis star could face up to a four-year suspension from the sport or even longer, according to the head of the POLADA Michał Rynkowski.

Majchrzak has previously issued a statement on social media confirming that he had failed doping tests and described the ongoing situation as ‘the biggest shock of his life.’

“I have some incredibly sad and difficult news to share with everyone,” he wrote.
“I have tested positive in anti-doping controls during October and November 2022.
“Firstly I have never, ever, knowingly taken any banned substance.
“At this moment I have no idea what has happened and this is the biggest shock.
“I have started the most difficult fight of my life – the fight to prove my innocence and return to the sport I love.”

Majchrzak, who is a former top 10 player on the junior Tour, peaked at a ranking high of 75th earlier this season and reached the semi-finals of the Pune Open in January. His most recent title win was on the Challenger Tour at the Busan Open in South Korea a couple of months ago.

The tennis star is yet to publicly comment on Rzeczpospolita’s report concerning his latest test.
