Emma Raducanu has appointed Sebastian Sachs her new coach ahead of the 2023 season.
The Brit started her preparations with a positive performance in a 5-7 6-3 10-8 defeat to Ons Jabeur in Abu Dhabi.
In the defeat Raducanu admitted she is seeing signs of progression ahead of the new season, “Amazing to play here in front of all of you, this is Ons’ house so thank you for having me,” Raducanu said in her post-match interview.
“I had to cut my season short because of a wrist injury so I’ve just been building in the gym, started getting back on court recently in the last two weeks, so I’m glad to be making some progressions and looking forward to 2023.”
Raducanu is looking to climb back up the rankings as she now sits outside the world’s top 70.
However the former US Open champion is looking to take steps towards achieving the form that won her the title in New York as she has appointed German coach Sebastian Sachs.
Sachs has previously worked with the likes of Victoria Azarenka, Julia Goerges and more recently Belinda Bencic.
The Brit’s first event of the year will be the ASB Classic in Auckland which takes place on the 2nd of January with the Australian Open taking place on the 16th of January.
