Hubert Hurkacz battled past British Next Gen player Jack Draper 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (5-7) 6-1 at the European Open in Antwerp to keep his chance alive of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
Hurkacz is currently ninth in the ATP Race to Turin, 295 points behind seventh placer Felix Auger Aliassime.
Draper saved four set points, but Hurkacz won the tie-break 7-5. The young Briton came back from a break down to win the tie-break 7-5. Hurkacz broke in the second and sixth games to seal the third set 6-1.
Draper has become the first Briish player to qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals.
Dominic Thiem beat Michael Geerts 6-4 6-0 to reach the quarter finals at the European Open in Antwerp.
The first set went on serve until the 10th game when Thiem earned his first break to win the first set 6-4. The Austrian player broke three times to take a bagel win in the second set.
Yoshihito Nishioka edged Jaume Munar 6-1 7-6 (7-3). Nishioka broke three times to seal the first set 6-1. Nishioka went up a break in the sixth game to take a 4-2 lead. Munar broke straight back in the seventh game to draw level to 4-4. Nishioka earned the first mini-break to take a 2-0 lead. Munar pulled back on serve to draw level to 2-2. Nishioka won four consecutive points to take a 6-2 earning four match points. The Japanese player closed out with a mini-break on his second match point.
Daniel Evans eased past Constant Letienne 6-2 6-1 after 75 minutes. Evans won 82% of his first service points and broke twice in the first set and three times in the second set to win his 27th ATP Tour match this season. The British player reached the semifinals in Antwerp in 2020 in his only previous appearance at this tournament. Earlier this year he reached three semifinals in Sydney, San Diego and at the Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal.
Evans has improved his lead to 2-0 in his head-to-head matches against Lestienne after winning their previous clash in San Diego last September.
Evans will face a second round match against either last week’s Florence winner Felix Auger Aliassime or Frenchman Manuel Guinard, who edged past Geoffreu Blancaneaux 3-6 6-3 7-5.
Richard Gasquet beat Dominic Stricker 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 in 2 hours and 1 minute to advance to advance to his sixth quarter final this season. Gasquet set up a match against either Diego Schwartzman or David Goffin.
Gasquet broke serve in the fourth time at deuce to take a 3-1 lead. Stricker broke back in the fifth game to draw level to draw level to 3-3. Gasquet went up a mini-break twice, but Stricker pulled back on serve to draw level to 4-4. Gasquet earned his third mini-break to win the tie-break 7-5.

Sebastian Korda beat Marcos Giron 6-3 6-7 (0-7) 6-4 to reach the second round, where he will face Karen Khachanov.
