Stefanos Tsitsipas is bracing himself for a huge obstacle when he takes on world number one Daniil Medvedev in the Cincinnati semi-finals.
The Greek earned his spot in the semi-finals with a 7-6(5) 5-7 6-3 victory over John Isner.
Tsitsipas broke twice as he overcame the big-serving American to reach his eighth semi-final of the season.
Next for Tsitsipas will be a tough test though as he takes on his nemesis and world number one Daniil Medvedev.
The duo have met on nine occasions and it’s the Russian who has come out victorious seven times.
Ahead of the semi-final meeting Tsitsipas told the ATP website that it will be an obstacle but it’s a task that has his full concentration, “I’m going to have to play my game,” Tsitsipas admitted.
“Of course, an obstacle like Daniil is never easy, but I’m going to try to stay concentrated, try to approach my game in the most precise, best manner. I’ll let my tennis do the talking, and the rest will present itself if it’s something that I deserve.”
Tsitsipas will look to continue playing consistent tennis as he looks to go further than the third round at this year’s US Open.
Heading into the semi-finals, Tsitsipas has the best attack conversion rate out of the four players left in the tournament and will look to continue playing aggressive tennis in his semi-final meeting.
The match is scheduled at 8pm BST tonight while Cameron Norrie’s clash with Borna Coric is scheduled for 11pm BST.
