Cameron Norrie is preparing to make as many sacrifices as possible to become world number one in the future.
The British number one had a great grass court season which concluded in his first grand slam semi-final where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
Although there were no ranking points available, Norrie made progressive steps to being able to compete with the biggest players in the world on the biggest stages.
Speaking to the BBC, the Brit is confident of being able to carry that form into the US hard court swing and said that he is ready to make sacrifices in order to be world number one, “Physically I can improve, my serve, my return, my volleys – all of my game. I’m still hungry. I still want more,” Norrie told BBC Scotland.
“I’m going to make as many sacrifices as I can to give myself the best chance to become world number one and that’s the goal for me. Obviously, a long way to go. I believe I have the level and commitment to give myself the best chance.
“I have just been working on a new things and leaving Wimbledon obviously with a lot of confidence and a lot of first experiences for me. It was a lot but it was good fun and I really enjoyed all of it.
“My favourite surface, the US hard courts and the US summer – it’s my best chance. I’m going to have to keep improving and keep playing at this level to have a chance. There’s no reason why I can’t be up there with those top boys.”
Norrie’s self-belief and confidence is at the highest it’s ever been as he looks to continue his rise up the men’s game.
Next for the Brit will be Los Cabos next week where he will look to defend his title that he won last year.
Then he will play Montreal and Cincinnati before looking to make another big step in his career at the US Open which starts on the 29th of August.
