The latest ATP Ranking list churned out on July 25 marks a groundbreaking debut: the 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz joins the exclusive club of the 5 best players in the world.
In the new millennium he is the second youngest player to achieve such a milestone. Only Rafael Nadal has done better, storming into the top 5 in May 2005 when he was 18. If Alcaraz had clinched the title in Hamburg he would have overtaken Tsitsipas and secured fourth place, but he was halted by an outstanding Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian won his first ATP tournament and soars to No.31, vying to be seeded at the US Open.
In the Top 20 Cameron Norrie lost two positions and is thirteenth. Diego Schwartzman and Roberto Bautista Agut have slipped one place. Hubert Hurkacz, Taylor Fritz, Matteo Berrettini and Gael Monfils have all gained one spot.
