Reilly Opelka is known as one of the most powerful servers on the men’s Tour and he hopes to utilize this skill to raise hundreds for charity.

The American has pledged to donate $100 to a spinal cord research charity for every ace he hits throughout his campaign at the Miami Open which will begin later this week. Opelka regularly hits aces in the double digits during his matches. According to the ATP, he has hit more aces than any other player so far this season on the men’s Tour with a total of 344 over 18 matches played.

“I’m going to be donating $100 for every ace I hit during the Miami Open. I will be donating to Wings For Life, which is a spinal cord research non-profit charity,” Opelka said in a video posted to social media.

Wings for Life funds scientific research and clinical trials aimed at trying to find a cure to spinal cord damage both in America and around the world. The organization is mainly backed by private funding and says all of the funding they receive is used ‘for research purposes.’

Opelka isn’t the only player who will be taking part in the initiative after also managing to get a trio of his peers to also join in. World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, former Indian Wells champion Cameron Norrie and Tommy Paul have all also agreed to take part. Paul starred in Opelka’s video announcing the initiative with a scene inspired by the move step-brothers. Opelka and Tsitsipas are playing in both singles and doubles tournaments this year in Miami.

24-year-old Opelka is currently ranked 18th in the world which is one spot off his career high that was achieved last month. So far this season he has recorded a win-loss record of 13-5 and won his third Tour title at the Delray Beach Open.
