Taylor Fritz beat fifth-seeded player Andrey Rublev 7-5 7-6 (7-2) in 80 minutes at the Paris Rolex Masters in Paris Bercy scoring his third top 10 win this season.
The first set went on serve until the 12th game, when Fritz earned his first break at love after Rublev hit a forehand into the net.
Rublev was not able to convert his only break point at 1-1 30-40 in the second set. Both players went on serve until the tie-break, where Fritz earned two mini-breaks before closing out the match with a forehand crosscourt winner.
Fritz has won 10 of his past 12 matches. At Indian Wells the Californian player reached his first Masters 1000 semifinal after his wins against Matteo Berrettini, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. Last week he finished runner-up to Marin Cilic in the final in St. Petersburg.
Rublev won the Rotterdam ATP 500 final and reached three semifinals in Monte-Carlo, Halle and Cincinnati.
