Third seed Roberto Bautista Agut secured his spot in the quarter final with a 6-3 7-5 win over Stefano Travaglia in his debut match at the Mallorca International.
Bautista Agut converted one break in each set to claim the win in 1 hour and 26 minutes.
The Spaniard set up a match against Sam Querrey, received a walkover from Ugo Humbert, who withdrew from the match due to addominal pain.
“It’s nice to start in Spain and play with a lot of crowd. Hopefully with a lot of crowd. Hopefully I can play many more matches here because I really enjoyed tonight”, said Bautista Agut.
Pablo Carreno Busta broke twice and fired nine aces in his 6-4 6-4 win over Jiri Vesely.
“I played against him in Australia this year and I won in four sets. Today I didn’t lose a set, but of course it was a tough match”, said Pablo Carreno Busta. The Spaniard will face Jordan Thompson, who reached the quarter finals with a 6-4 6-4 win over qualifier Lukas Klein.
