This year’s Miami Open champion Hubert Hurkacz beats Thomas Fabbiano 6-3 3-6 6-3 to reach the second round at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.
Hurkacz claimed the first set 6-3 with a break in the sixth game.
Fabbiano went up a break in the second game to open up a 3-0 lead. Hurkacz saved two break points to hold serve in the sixth game at deuce for 2-4. Fabbiano held his final two service games to claim the second set 6-3.
Fabbiano earned a break at love in the third game to take a 2-1 lead, but Hurkacz broke straight back in the fourth game to draw level to 2-2. Hurkacz saved three break points in the seventh game to hold serve at deuce in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead. The Polish player converted his second beak point to take a 5-3 lead after coming back from 15-40 down in the eighth game earning a chance to serve for the match. Hurkacz served out the second set 6-3 at deuce after saving two break points.
