Karen Khachanov is through to the second round of the ABN AMRO after beating Stan Wawrinka in straight sets 6-4, 7-5, hitting 15 winners in the victory while the Swiss hit 30 unforced errors.
The world number 21 got an early gift from the number 8 seed in the opening service game of the match when Wawrinka would serve a double fault to give the Russian an early breakpoint
The Swiss would save it and go on to hold serve and the next time there was a breakpoint was at 1-1 and this time the Moscow native had no issues securing the early break.
At 2-3 the world number 20 had two chances to break to go back on serve but the big Russian would save both with two huge serves and go on to hold serve to make it 4-2.
Khachanov had a chance to go up another break the following game but the number 8 seed did a good job saving it before the Russian would serve out the first set to take it 6-4.

Medvedev faced pressure early in the second set but was able to overcome it and the proceedings stayed on serve until 5-5 when the world number 21 had a chance to break and serve for the match.
He broke on his first of three breakpoints, forcing the error from the world number 20 before going on to serve out the match and finishing with a stunning cross court forehand winner.
Medvedev will next face Cameron Norrie of Great Britain in the next round. In other action another Andrey Rublev got his campaign in Rotterdam going by beating Marcus Giron 7-6, 6-3.
