Eigtht-time ATP Tour titlist Andrey Rublev cruised past Marton Fucsovics 6-2 6-2 after 52 minutes in a re-match of this year’s Rotterdam ATP 500 final to reach the Round of 16 at the Miami Open.
Rublev earned his first break at love in the third game to take a 2-1 lead. He rallied from 15-30 down to convert his second break point in the fifth game and never looked back in his final two service games to close out the first set 6-2.
Rublev saved a break point to hold his serve at deuce in the second game before breaking at love to take a 2-1 lead. Rublev broke twice more in the fifth game at deuce and in the seventh game at love.
The fourth set now leads the ATP Tour with 18 wins in 21 matches this season.
The Russian star has won all of his three head-to-head matches in straight sets against Fucsovics this year.
Rublev set up a Round of 16 match against Marin Cilic, who beat Lorenzo Musetti 6-3 6-4 after 75 minutes.
Rublev leads 2-1 in his three head-to-head matches against Cilic. The Croatian player won his only match in Geneva 2015, when Rublev was just 17. Rublev beat Cilic in Miami and Moscow in 2019.
