Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares came back from one set down to beat Simone Bolelli and Maximo Gonzales 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-4 after 2 hours and 31 minutes secuting their spot in the quarter final of the Australian Open.
Murray and Soares converted all three break points they created to keep their hopes to win their second Australian Open doubles title as a team. The British and Brazilian team set up a quarter final match against Marcelo Arevalo and Matwe Middelkoop.
The 11-time doubles titlists won the Great Ocean Road Open doubles title in Melbourne in the build-up to the Australian Open with a 6-3 7-6 (9-7) win over Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah.
Defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury battled past Michael Venus and John Peers 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-4) to continue their bid for a second consecutive title in Melbourne. Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek cruised past Marcelo Melo and and Horia Tecau 6-4 6-3 in 1 hor and 26 minutes to score their eighth win in their ten matches this year after reaching the final in Antalya and the semifinals at the Great Ocean Road Open. Dodig and Polasek set up a quarter final against Australian wild cards Matthew Ebden and John Patrick Smith, who did not face a break point in their 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 win over Wesley Koolhof and Lukasz Kubot.
