World number 1 and 17-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic will start his 2021 season at the ATP Cup from 1 to 5 February in Melbourne.
In the inaugural edition Djokovic won each of his six singles matches, including the semifinal against Danil Medvedev and the final against Rafael Nadal, and both of his doubles matches. In the final Roberto Bautista Agut beat Dusan Lajovic in the opening singles match, before Djokovic claimed a straight-set win over Rafael Nadal to force the final to the decider. In the doubles match Djokoic and Viktor Troicki beat Pablo Carreno Busta and Feliciano Lopez to clinch the inaugural ATP Cup title.
Trocki has become the new Serbian Davis Cup team captain.
Serbia is the favourite team to win their second ATP Cup title in a row. Djokovic’s possible teammates could be world number 26 and 2019 Monte-Carlo finalist Dusan Lajovic Filip Krajinovic, Miomir Kecmanovic and Laslo Djere.
