Vasek Pospisil broke four times in his 6-3 6-2 win over John Millman to reach the quarter finals at the Sofia Open.
Pospisil broke serve at deuce in the second game and saved two break points to open up a 4-1 lead. The Canadian player went up a double break at deuce to open up a 5-1 lead. Millman pulled back one break back at 30 in the seventh game to close back to 2-5. Pospisil served it out on his first set point.
Millman saved two break points to hold serve after three deuces in the third game for 2-1. Pospisil won four consecutive games with two breaks in a row to win the second set 6-2.
Pospisil set up a semifinal against Richard Gasquet for a spot in the final, who reached his first semifinal of 2020 with a 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 over Italy’s Salvatore Caruso.
Caruso took a 3-1 lead in the tie-break of the first set, but Pospisil won six of the next seven points to seal the tie-break 7-3. Gasquet broke serve in the sixth game to take a 5-3 lead, but Gasquet broke back to draw level to 5-5. Gasquet won the final two games with a break in the 12th game to seal the second set 7-5.
