US Rajeev Ram and Great Britain’s Joe Salisbury claimed a 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (4-7) 10-4 win over two-time Roland Garros champions Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in the evening session in the longest doubles match at this week’s Nitto ATP Finals.
Australian Open champions Ram and Salisbury rallied from a break down in the first set before winning the tie-break 7-5 in a hard-fought match.
In the tie-break of the second set Ram and Salisbury were leading 4-3 before Krawietz and Mies reeled off four consecutive points to claim the tie-break forcing the match to the Match Tie-break, which determined the second semifinalists of Group Mike Bryan.
Ram and Salisbury got three mini-breaks to clinch the Match Tie-Break 7-4.
Koolhof and Mektic finished at the top of the Group Mike Bryan, while Ram and Salisbury reached the semifinal as the second-placed team. Both teams are in contention to finish the year at the top of the ATP Tour Doubles Team Ranking.
