Andrey Rublev beat Matteo Berrettini 6-4 7-6 (8-6) to secure his spot in the final of the Thiem’s 7 exhibition tournament setting up a match against tournament organizer Dominic Thiem.
Rublev did not convert his break point in the fourth game of the opening set before earning the break in the 10th game to win the opening set 6-4. Rublev was leading 2-1 before the match was interrupted by rain yesterday.
Berrettini held his service game and earned two break points, but Rublev saved them. The Italian failed to convert two more chances in the ninth game. The second set came down to the tie-break, where Rublev took the 8-6 edge.
