Matteo Berrettini beat David Goffin 13-12 20-8 18-9 11-12 to win his second match at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, the tournament organized by Patrick Mouratoglou in his Academy in Southern France.
Goffin went up 12-9 in the first quarter. Berrettini opted to play the “steal serve” card earning two serves against Goffin. Berrettini drew level to 12-12 before sealing the first quarter 13-12 after a double fault from Goffin.
Goffin was the first to use the winner count X3 card, but he was 3-6 behind. Berrettini played a steal serve UTS card to cruise through to a 14-6 lead. Berrettini scored double-three pointer to clinch the second set 20-8. Berrettini used the steal serve card to win the third quarter 18-9. Goffin won the final rally to clinch the fourth quarter 12-11.
Berrettini secured the win with 26 winners and nine unforced errors. The two players played the fourth quarte ras their overall averages will determine who qualifies for the knock-out stage. The Ultimante Tennis Showdown is a round-robin tournament and every quarter counts for qualification.

“I am really happy with my performance. During the game I was playing better and better. I don’t know what’s happening. It’s too hot, guys. I served well in the last four points and I think I chose my cards really well and I chose my cards really well and I think you have to have a bit of luck, so I am lucky”, said Berrettini.
Benoit Paire rallied from losing the first quarter to beat Dustin Brown 18-19 17-14 18-15 21-12 in a very entertaining match.
“Not excellent, but I won the quarter. I tried to to improve physically because it’s not easy with Dustin. It was more rallies yesterday against Tsitsipas but today it’s more one shot or two shots. It’s never easy to play against him, but I feel fresh today and practiced one hour before the match to be very focused on this one”, said Paire.
