Former world No.3 Grigor Dimitrov has got past Chilean Cristian Garin in Paris Bercy quarter-finals 6-2, 7-5 to reserve a spot in semi-finals after such an impressive performance this week.

The Bulgarian has defeated Ugo Humbert, David Goffin, and Dominic Thiem en route to quarter-finals; producing one of his best performances this season.

Thirty five minutes were enough for Dimitrov to clinch the first set with 2 breaks out of 5 opportunities. There wasn’t much drama in the first set as the Bulgarian was taking pretty much control over it, having him won most shorts, intermediate and long rallies all, returning 81% of his opponent serves and winning 80% of his first serve unlike Garin who had lower efficient serve especially second serve winning just 30% out of it.

It was the second set when the Chilean was up to the business posing some threats to Grigor, although, it sounded that he wasn’t that mentally strong when it needed him the most.

It took The Bulgarian 5 minutes to hold serve in the 7th game of the second set when Garin was putting pressure on him to get the break willing to slip with the second set, however, the Chilean managed to get the break after all in the 9th game; getting the chance to serve for the set.

2017 ATP Finals champion leveled up his game significantly in the 10th game, playing more aggressively with much focusing to get the break back.

Such a break in a very crucial moment when serving for the match probably made the Chilean having doubts about his game to fall to Dimitrov in the 12th game

That will be the first semi-finals in a Masters 1000 tournament since Monte Carlo 2018 for world No. 27 Grigor Dimitrov, a fact that Dimitrov was happy himself when he heard about it at the post-match interview.

He mentioned too that the Chilean player has been playing really good tennis this week, that he needed to level up his game and his serve hugely in front of him. He added as well that he happy this week with family and his team around supporting him, hoping to play two more matches here in Paris

Dimitrov is going to face Novak Djokovic  in the last 4 battle in Paris, an opponent he didn’t have pretty good results in front of; losing 8 matches out of 9 meetings against him.
