Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have all been nominated for next month’s Davis Cup Finals for their respective countries.
The new reformed Davis Cup will take place on the 18th-24th November at the Caja Magica in Madrid with 18 nations participating.
There will be six groups of three to begin the group stage with the winners of each group as well as the two best runners-up reaching the quarter-finals.
Within each match there will be two singles and a doubles rubber which will be played in the best of three tiebreak sets.
Despite the doubts the new format has been raised, which was founded by Gerard Pique’s Kosmos, today’s nominations have seen a strong line-up take shape at next month’s competition.
Rafael Nadal will lead the line for Spain as he is joined by Roberto Bautista Agut, Feliciano Lopez, Marcel Granollers and Pablo Carreno Busta.
The hosts have it all to do though as they have Russia and Croatia in their group, who pose big threats to Spain’s title bid with Daniil Medvedev, Karen Khachanov and Marin Cilic representing their respective countries.
Also Novak Djokovic will participate in the Davis Cup Finals for Serbia as he is joined by Dusan Lajovic, Viktor Troicki, Filip Krajinovic and Janko Tipsarevic as they take on France and Japan.
There is also a resurgent Andy Murray who has been given the chance to represent his country after almost retiring in January.
The former champions also boast in-form Dan Evans as well as Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski with one of Kyle Edmund or Cameron Norrie set to join them.
