Germany’s Julia Goerges is looking for another coach after confirming she is no longer working with two former members of her team.
The world No.27 has ended her collaboration with Sebastian Sachs after just four months working together. Their partnership began at the end of May following Goerges’ split from Michael Geserer, who she had worked with for over three years. During their brief time together, the 30-year-old had enjoyed some success on the tour. Reaching the final of the Birmingham International and the fourth round at the US Open. It was after the US Open when it was decided that the two would no longer work together.
Besides Sachs, another person exiting the team is Florian Zitzelsberger. A physiotherapist who has been working with the German player since November 2015. It is unclear as to why Zitzelsberger has left.
“I can confirm that I no longer work with physiotherapist Florian Zitzelsberger and coach Sebastian Sachs. After the US Open, we decided that we disagree about our future sporting direction,” Gorges said in a statement issued to Tennismagazin.de.
“I am just restyling my team for the 2020 season and I look forward to the future tasks,” She added.
Goerges’ latest match on the tour took place earlier this week at the China Open in Beijing. Where she was edged out in the first round by Polona Hercog in three close sets. It is the ninth time this season she has lost her opening match at a tournament. However, two of those early defeats was due to retirements.
Despite her mixed season, the former top 10 player is hoping to end 2019 on a positive note. Before entering her off-season, she will play in Linz, Austria followed by Luxembourg. In Luxembourg, she is the defending champion.
Due to her current ranking, Goerges faces a tall order to end the season inside the top 20. Something he has done over the past two years.
