Alexander Zverev needed less than one hour to beat Fernando Verdasco 6-1 6-3 reaching the second round at the Paris Rolex Masters. The young German player, who won the 2018 ATP Finals last year and is in contention for one of the two remaining two spots for this year’s ATP Finals.
Zverev broke serve twice in the fourth and sixth game and saved both break points he faced to win the first set 6-1. The German player won the second set 6-3 with his only break in the first set at deuce and won 87 % of his service points.
Zverev is currently ranked seventh in the ATP Race to London with 2945 points. He is bidding to qualify for the ATP Finals for the third consecutive year.
