3.Darren Cahill is always near
Halep’s latest triumph was achieved under the guidance of Daniel Dobre, who she reunited with back in March. The two previously worked together in 2015.
“I have a good team. I have good people around me. I really thank them.” Said Halep.
“He (Dobre) is very emotional. I like that. He’s a good person. We talked after the match just a little bit, not tennis. He said that it was unbelievable how I could win this match.”
Another big influence is her former coach Darren Cahill. The person who guided Halep to the French Open title. The two ended their collaboration back in November with Australian-based Cahill wanting to take a year-long break.
“Darren is part of this.” The former world No1 explained. “I talk to him all the time. He came to see my match again today.’
“His heart is with us. Made me a little bit stronger today, honestly, to be able to believe that I have the chance to win.”
