2.A break did wonders to her tennis
2018 saw Halep win her first grand slam title at the French Open. Following that came an increase in publicity and expectations placed on her shoulders. She would go on to win only one additional title in Canada that year.
Eager to not crumble under the pressure, Halep went on to declare that 2019 would be her ‘chill year.’ Something some misinterpreted as her wanting to take it easy on the tour.
“I managed after winning the French Open pretty well, even if I was a little bit exhausted at the end of last year.” She said.
“I took a big holiday, a long holiday, and then I said it is a chill year. But I meant I wanted to relax as a person, not as a player. I still work hard every day, every match, every tournament. That’s why I was able to win this tournament now at this moment.”
Wimbledon is the third final Halep has contested this season after Doha and Madrid. Her win-loss currently stands at 36-10.
