The US dominated last year’s proceedings in southern Florida by running away with every single title on offer. The Men’s and Women’s singles, as well as the Men’s doubles and half of the Women’s doubles team all claimed standout victories in last year’s 2018 Miami Open.

According to the bookmakers playing on home soil won’t make one bit of difference this time round. The odds are backing Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as stand out favourites to take home this year’s 2019 Miami Open Men’s Singles title.

Novak Djokovic has been altogether dominant since winning his first title in the competition back in 2007. This year’s number one seed has won an incredible six titles since that first taste of victory in Miami 12 years ago.

Last year’s tournament was a disappointing affair for the Serbian Grand Slam master, who was promptly dumped out by Frenchman Benoit Paire in the second round. The bookmakers have got Djokovic as standout favourite at 11/8 to bounce back and claim his seventh title in Miami this March.

Another outright favourite is Roger Federer who also had a disappointing tournament last year. Sharing a similar experience to archrival Djokovic the Swiss crashed out in the second round. Federer will be looking to bounce back from a recent defeat in the final at Indian Wells to get back to winning ways.

To back either of the favourites to win this year’s Miami Open Men’s Singles title be sure to compare betting sites for the best odds, bonuses and betting advice. Djokovic and Federer may have underperformed last year but their overall records speak volumes. The greats don’t often go off the boil for too long.

One player who won’t be too bothered by Federer’s three Miami Men’s Singles titles is Dominic Thiem who beat the Swiss in the final at Indian Wells last Sunday. Thiem is currently sixth favourite at 20/1 and has risen to an career record fourth in the world rankings.

One notable withdrawal from this year’s competition is five time finalist Rafael Nadal. Nadal has pulled out due to injury for the second year in a row. The last time he competed he was beaten in the final by Federer back in 2017.

Also missing his second consecutive Miami Open is Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro. Del Potro looked to be making a comeback until he was forced to exit the competition only hours before the tournament got underway.

Those two high profile omissions seem to have affected a marginal drop in the odds.

Other notable favourites still in contention are 2016 finalist Kei Nishikori, Milos Raonic and last year’s finalist Alexander Zverev all placed at around 15/1. Last year’s champion John Isner is an outsider bet at 50/1.

What’s for sure is that the big boys definitely have something to prove down in the heat and humidity of southern Florida this time round. Both are looking to recover some composure on US soil after defeats in California as of late.
