What would Roger Federer take with him to a desert island? The answer can be found is his latest video for Italian food maker Barilla.
The 20-time grand slam champion is fronting Barilla’s new campaign alongside Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin and prestigious chef Davide Oldani. Titled ‘The Party’ the advert centres around Federer cooking alongside Oldani to liven up an extravagant party. Conveying the idea that the party always starts in the kitchen.
“This global campaign helps to tell the story of Barilla pasta, showcasing the masterful art of pasta making and sharing with audiences worldwide how the creation of good food, goes hand-in-hand with good times.” Said Barilla communication and equity director Andrea Malservisi.
“Roger shares our passion for perfection and knows what it takes to be a world leader of your chosen passion and profession.”
Following on from the two-minute advert, Barilla has released a second video. Called ‘Interviews’ it is a humorous question and answer session with the three stars of the advert. Questions include what is the strangest rumour they have heard about themselves, how they would order spaghetti without speaking and what their motto in life is.
Federer has been a global ambassador for Barilla since 2017 in what has been described as a ‘long-term partnership’ between the two. There is no financial details about the deal with Barilla saying their collaboration with the 20-time grand slam champion ‘is a relationship and not a transaction.’
“A correct diet is essential to my success: pasta perfectly combines my nutritional needs with the desire to eat good-tasting food,” said Federer.
Barilla was founded in 1877 by Pietro Barilla and the company remains under family ownership until the present day. Earlier this year, the company was named the number one Italian consumer goods company in terms of turnover by IRI Research.
