Nick Kyrgios has said that he is ready to raise his game should he get a tough Australian Open draw tomorrow.

The two time grand slam quarter-finalist is unseeded for a slam for the first time since the US Open in 2015 and could face anyone in tomorrow’s draw.

This includes world number one Novak Djokovic or defending champion Roger Federer. However the Australian has said that if he gets a rough draw then he is ready to raise his game, “I guess I just have to raise my game a little bit,” Kyrgios said to SBS News.

“I’ve been to the fourth round (of grand slams) so many times, two quarter-finals and I’ve had some tough matches in those rounds. I guess I just have to play better at the end of the day.”

As he gets ready to compete at his home grand slam, the Canberran also commented on the future of Australian tennis which is being lead by 19 year-old Alex De Minaur, “I think we (Tomic and Kyrgios) can make deep runs at the Australian Open but also we’ve got de Minaur, Millman, we’ve got so many players,” he explained.

“I think it’s an exciting time for Australian tennis as we’ve got such a wide variety of players.”

On the men’s side De Minaur is the only seeded Australian at 27 while Ashleigh Barty is representing the women’s game as the 15th seed.

The Australian Open draw is tomorrow at 6pm local time while the action begins on Monday with the finals taking place on the 26th and 27th of January.
