Canadian Peter Polansky has completed grand slam history at the US Open as the qualifiers for the final grand slam of the year have been placed in the main draw.
The 30 year old from Toronto became the first ever player to complete the grand slam of Lucky Loser spots after he lost to American Donald Young in final round qualifying yesterday. The world number 120 has received a lucky loser place in the main draw of all four grand slams this season in what will go down in the history books as an unremarkable feat.

However the luckiest loser of them all hasn’t had much luck when it comes to the main draw having lost to Karen Khachanov, Pierre-Hughes Herbert and Dennis Novak in the first round of his main draw grand slam matches this season. The Canadian veteran will need all the luck in the world when he takes on fourth seed, Alexander Zverev in the first round of the US Open on Tuesday.
Polansky will be joined by Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego as the Lucky Losers in the US Open after Pablo Cuevas and Jared Donaldson withdrew from the US Open. Among the male qualifiers include talented Canadian, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Spanish veteran Tommy Robredo, who is back in the US Open main draw at 36 years of age.
