It will be a 13:00 GMT start time for Roger Federer on Monday at the All-England Club after the order of play for day 1 at Wimbledon was announced on Sunday.
Federer, 36, is bidding to win a record ninth title this year. In his opening match, the top seed will take on Dusan Lajovic on Centre Court. 12 months ago Federer defeated the Serbian in straight sets on the very same court in the second round of the tournament. Caroline Wozniacki’s match against Varvara Lepchenko follows afterwards. Wozniacki is bidding to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament for the first time in her career. The final match on the premier court will be a potentially mouthwatering clash between Grigor Dimitrov and Stan Wawrinka.
Sloane Stephens will start her bid on Court 1 against Donna Vekic. The current US Open champion is yet to play a competitive match on the grass. Meanwhile, Vekic has already played three tournaments on the surface. Later on in the day Milos Raonic will take on Liam Broady followed by the return of Serena Williams. The 36-year-old missed last year’s Wimbledon due to pregnancy. She will lock horns with Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands.
A total of 64 singles matches is set to take place on the first day of the grand slam. Marin Cilic, Venus Williams and Borna Coric are just some of the other players in action.
