Roger Federer cruised into the third round of Wimbledon with a 6-4 6-4 6-1 victory over Eastbourne finalist Lukas Lacko.
The defending champion produced another serving masterclass as he put the pressure on the Slovakian very early in the match. The Slovakian responded with some fine errors as he aimed to use his momentum from Eastbourne last week to cause Federer a variety of problems. However a break in the seventh game nullified the Slovakian’s confidence as the eight time champion cruised towards the first set in 39 minutes.
The second set saw a much earlier break of serve from Federer as he started to introduce more variety into his game as he entertained the Centre Court crowd. After the break in the fifth game, Lacko continued to retaliate and stick to his game plan as he refused to surrender anymore breaks to the top seed. Despite the world number 73’s best efforts Federer sealed a commanding two sets to love lead.
The world number two stormed into top gear in the final set, where he produced his best tennis of the match as the Slovakian failed to cope with Federer’s brilliance. After 1 hour and 32 minutes, a textbook Federer forehand sealed yet another win at Wimbledon as he sailed into the last 32 at SW19.

It was another trademark performance as Federer has a ninth title in his sights as he wastes no time reaching the third round of Wimbledon. The defending champion will now play either Ivo Karlovic or Jan-Lennard Struff next on Friday.
