Roger Federer has participated in his first practice session on the grass courts of Stuttgart ahead of a very strong field in the German city.
The 20 time grand slam champion has arrived and took part in his first practice session in Stuttgart as he took to Centre Court alongside German tennis player Philipp Kohlschreiber. The Swiss legend will be looking to win his first title in Stuttgart as he begins preparations for his Wimbledon title defence, which starts in a few weeks time. The world number two will begin his grass court season on Wednesday against either Mischa Zverev or Mikhail Youzhny. Bigger test could await Federer though with Denis Shapovalov, Nick Kyrgios and Milos Raonic all being in his way of a first Stuttgart title. Should Federer reach the final this week, he will return to world number one as he went out in the second round last year to Tommy Haas, who is now the coach of the defending champion Lucas Pouille.
The top seed will head to Halle after Stuttgart before beginning his Wimbledon campaign on Monday the 2nd of July.
