The Mallorca Open have announced a Rafael Nadal practice session next week, which fans can see in addition to the WTA event in Spain.
The Mallorca Open will be the venue for one of two WTA events that are taking place next week as players continue their grass court preparations ahead of Wimbledon. The Spanish tournament will see players like Caroline Garcia, Angelique Kerber and Victoria Azarenka compete in a bid to be match-ready.
However like last year, the Mallorca Open have given fans of the tournament an extra boost by announcing that they can see 11 time Roland Garros champion and hometown hero, Rafael Nadal have his first practice session on the grass at the event in Mallorca. This is what the tournament said in their press release of the announcement:
“For the second consecutive year, Rafa Nadal will train on the Mallorca Open courts in order to prepare for Wimbledon. The World No. 1, who won Roland Garros for an eleventh time last Sunday, pulled out of Queen’s following the advice of his doctors to rest after playing 27 matches in the last two months, where he has won titles in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome and Roland Garros. Now, and before the start of Wimbledon (starting July 2), Nadal will face the preparation of the third Grand Slam of the season on the grass of the Mallorca Open.”
Rafael Nadal will look to improve on his fourth round exit to Gilles Muller at last year’s Wimbledon in what was an epic contest on Court One last year.
