Feliciano Lopez and Peter Polansky are going to set new records at Wimbledon this year as the third grand slam of the year begins on Monday.
The duo will set two different records when they play their first round matches at Wimbledon as Feliciano Lopez will play Federico Delbonis while Canadian Peter Polansky will play Dennis Novak in his first round. The Spaniard, Lopez, will set a new record of most consecutive grand slams, overtaking Roger Federer’s record.
The 36 year old will play in his 66th consecutive grand slam tournament at Wimbledon overtaking Federer’s 65 consecutive grand slams. The world number 70 will look to match his previous best performance at SW19 by reaching the quarter-finals for a fourth time in his career.
Meanwhile Peter Polansky will set a completely different record when he plays his first round match on Monday as he will become the first man in history to receive a Lucky Loser spot in a grand slam draw for the third consecutive time. The Canadian received a lucky loser spot at the Australian Open and Roland Garros this year and when he received the third of five Lucky Loser spots on Friday, he set a new record.
The world number 110 lost in final round qualifying to Jason Kubler in four sets but received yet another Lucky Loser spot after Pablo Andujar withdrew from the tournament. This latest bit of luck now means he is the joint record holder of all time alongside Simone Bolelli, who has received four Lucky Loser spots in his career. However the 30 year old was keen to brag about his ‘Lucky’ achievement on social media:

He also shared some advice on how to get a Lucky Loser spot with Female tennis star, Nicole Gibbs:
