This year’s French Open was an unequivocal success for sports equipment company Babolat.

Three out of the four men’s semi-finalists were playing with a Babolat racket. Eventual champion Rafael Nadal sealed the title with the help of a Pure Aero Decima racket. An item that were modified this year to have ‘decima’ and ‘10’ put across the head and the throat of the racket to mark the Spaniard’s 10 titles at Roland Garros. Dominic Thiem, who lost to Nadal in the final, also played with a Babolat Pure Strike. Meanwhile, underdog Marco Cecchinato used a Pure Aero VS.

The women’s draw also saw Babolat being represented with Garbine Muguruza’s run to the semifinals. The 2016 Roland Garros champion had a Pure Drive racket. Elsewhere at the tournament, the sporting brand was represented by both finalists in the boys competition as well as Stephane Houdet, who won the men’s wheelchair doubles title.

Babolat strung a total of 5610 rackets during the two-week grand slam event. Setting a new record for the most rackets strung during a major championship. A total of 67,320 meters of string was used. The same length as climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower 224 times in a row.

“As the official ball of Roland-Garros, we always participate in the final… and this year was extra special,” said Eric Babolat, Chairman and CEO of Babolat. “Rafa continues to write tennis history and we are honored to be a part of this story and celebrate the Undecima. To have Dominic in the final, who is leading the next generation of players, is very exciting and promising.”
“With three of the four men’s semifinalist, a strong tournament by Muguruza, a wheelchair doubles title, both players in the boys’ junior final, and a new Grand Slam stringing world record: Roland-Garros 2018 was a big success for Babolat!” He added.

Babolat was founded in 1875 by Pierre Babolat. The brand can now be brought worldwide in over 100 countries at more than 20,000 shops. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Fabio Fognini, Benoit Paire, Julia Goerges, Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Wozniacki are just some of the players on the tour that plays with products provided by the brand.
