Fabrice Santoro has described Italy’s Marco Cecchinato’s run to his first French Open quarter-final as ‘unexpected’ during an interview with Ubitennis.
The world No.72 stunned David Goffin 7-5, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, at Roland Garros on Sunday. Becoming the first Italian male to reach the quarter-finals of the French major since Fabio Fognini back in 2011. Prior to this year’s tournament, the 25-year-old had never won a main draw match at a grand slam tournament.
Following his win, former world No.17 Santoro shared his thoughts about the match whilst speaking to Ubitennis’ Ubaldo Scanagatta.
