Rafael Nadal has once again lived up to his reputation as the ‘king of clay.’ On Sunday he defeated Kei Nishikori 6-3, 6-2, to win a record 31st Masters 1000 title. It is the fifth time he has won the Monte Carlo title without dropping a set. As a result of his latest win, Nadal has now won 36 consecutive sets on the clay. A new best in his career.

Ubaldo Scanagatta looks back on Nadal’s run to his 11th title at The Monte Carlo Country Club. He also gives his own verdict about the return of Nishikori to the main stage of tennis.
