Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro is set to play at the Fever-Tree Champions in London as part of his preparations for the upcoming grass-court major at SW19.

Del Potro, who won his maiden Masters 1000 title earlier this year in Indian Wells, will be playing at the tournament for the fifth time in his career. His best run occurred in 2013 when he reached the quarter-finals before losing to Lleyton Hewitt. It was during that same year when Del Potro reach the semifinals at Wimbledon, his best performance at the tournament to date.

“I am very much looking forward to returning to the grass to play in the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club,” said Del Potro. “2018 has been a very good start for me and I would love to continue playing my best tennis on grass. It is always a very strong player-field, so I am excited to start my grass season at this amazing tournament.’

The world No.6 is regarded as one of the most in-form players this season. So far this year he has won 21 out of 25 matches played. Claiming back-to-back titles in Acapulco and Indian Wells. He also reached the final of the ASB Classic in January before losing to Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut.

“The return of Juan Martin to the World’s Top 10 is one of the best stories in tennis. Everybody loves him – from his powerful, devastating game to the sporting way he carries himself and interacts with the crowd.”  Tournament director Stephen Farrow said.

Del Potro is the latest big name playing in the ATP 500 tournament, which is held at The Queen’s Club. As it currently stands, four out of the world’s top six players will make an appearance. Joining the Argentine will be Rafael Nadal, Marin Cilic and Grigor Dimitrov. Elsewhere, former world No.1 Andy Murray is set to play as part of his comeback from hip surgery. Defending champion Feliciano Lopez, Nick Kyrgios and Denis Shapovalov have also confirmed their attendance.

The Fever-Tree Championships will get underway on June 18th. It will be the 115th edition of the tournament.
