ATP Finals winner Grigor Dimitrov is targeting a return to form at the ongoing Miami Masters after underperforming in the initial two and a half months of the 2018 season.
Dimitrov finally made his big breakthrough last year, reaching his second Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open, winning his maiden Masters title in Cincinnati and then capturing the biggest title of his career – the ATP World Tour Finals in London. However, the Bulgarian has struggled big time with fitness issues, leading to a downward spiral in his form in 2018.
Dimitrov though isn’t perturbed by his recent lack of success on the men’s circuit and is reasonably confident about regaining his touch by progressing to the business end of a number of upcoming events.
“I think there’s always pros and cons in everything but I always expect a lot from myself,” he told ATP World Tour.
“I always feel that I can do better and at some point this will get a little bit frustrating.
“I try to control what I can control everything else is out there and there for the taking.
“If I’m able to do the right things and play the right matches and win the right matches and fight, of course, then things are going to be well.
“I think the motivation level is still the same and I have been doing good so far so hopefully I can produce some good tennis out here in Miami.”
