Conchita Martinez Returns To Muguruza’s Coaching Team
Conchita Martinez has returned to Garbine Muguruza’s coaching team as the current Wimbledon champion prepares for the upcoming hard court tournaments.
Muguruza reached new heights in 2017 after her Wimbledon triumph and reached the top of the world rankings for the first time in her career. Most of her success was due to Conchita Martinez being in her corner and helping Muguruza both on and off the court.
There is no doubt that Martinez’s presence means that Muguruza is more relaxed both on and off the court, which helps her results on the court. So it is no surprise that Martinez has been recruited to work alongside permanent coach Sam Sumyk for the upcoming middle east and American hard court tournaments.
Martinez said the following regarding her reunion with Muguruza, “Returning to work next to Garbine is very gratifying. She is a great professional and hard-working, she demands a lot and her levels of intensity are always high, so it is a great challenge for me to start this new stage with her.”
