New York Times journalist Ben Rothenberg joins Ubitennis to reflect back on the key moments of day five at the Australian Open.

 

There was just one match dominating the headlines at the Melbourne Park. Nick Kyrgios’ four-set triumph over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga drew praise from many during what was a high-level match. Meanwhile, top seed Rafael Nadal dropped just five games during his one-sided win over Bosnia’s Damir Dzumhur.

In the women’s draw, Jelena Ostapenko became the latest seed to crash out. Losing to Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit. As a result of Ostapenko’s loss, Maria Sharapova and Angelique Kerber are the only players left in the draw that have previously won a major title. There were better news for Caroline Wozniacki and Elina Svitolina who eased their way into the fourth round.
