Alexander Zverev beat Nick Kyrgios 4-3 (5-3) 1-4 5-1 in the opening match of the FAST 4 Tennis in Sydney, an exhibition tournament based on innovative rules, like tie-breaks at 3-3, no lets and sudden death. The FAST 4 tournament featured a lot of entertaining shots.

Zverev and Kyrgios went on serve with no breaks of serve setting up a tie-break. The German player reeled off three consecutive points to win the tie-break 5-3. Ktrgios, who won his fourth ATP title last week in Brisbane beating Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinal and Ryan Harrison in the final, fought back to win the second set 4-1 forcing the match to the match tie-break. Zverev won the tie-break 5-1 after Kyrgios dropped a point on serve and was not able to recover.

In the second match Grigor Dimitrov dropped just three games to cruise past former Australian legend Lleyton Hewitt 4-1 4-2. Hewitt saved Dimitrov’s match point before earning a break point at 40-40 on Dimitrov’s serve at 3-2 in the second set. Dimitrov hit an ace to wrap up the match.

Dimitrov and Zverev teamed up for the final doubles match against Hewitt and Kyrgios. The Aussie team beat Dimitrov and Zverev 4-1 2-4 5-3. Hewitt and Kyrgios won the last four points of the tie-break and closed out the doubles match, as Dimitrov made a double fault.

The FAST 4 tournament was held for the first time in 2015. In this tournament new rules have been introduced. A set in Fast 4 tennis is won by the player winning four games first. If the set gets to three gamesa all, a nine-point tie-break is played to decide the set. The first to reach five wins the breaker. There are no deuces in scoring and deciding points are used.
