Current Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza answered fan questions in a special Q&A session on the WTA’s Facebook page.
During the 15 minute session on Facebook she talked about why she decides to go to Los Angeles for the off-season instead of staying in Europe, “I love getting to come here, It brings good energy, which is especially important for the pre-season. This is my third off-season in a row here. It’s where my coach lives and the weather is very nice.”
The world number two also spoke about the pros and cons of being a professional tennis player, “The best part is the travel, going to incredible places and playing in front of thousands of people in big arenas,” Muguruza explained. “It’s a healthy life to be a professional athlete. I like to be out on the edge when you’re nervous, excited, even a little bit afraid.”
She also added how she watches her own matches and how a change in attitude has lead to her rapid success to the top of Tennis, “I watch my matches a lot. Before it was harder, especially if I lost the match. I’d say, You know who’s gonna watch this match? ‘Not me!’ I’ve learned when I watch, like improving my attitude. When I was younger, I’d be whining or having a bad attitude and watching can show you how to correct that.”

The Spaniard has also released her schedule for the first half of the season, which has her playing 13 tournaments between January and July. Muguruza will start her season in Brisbane in 20 days time as she looks to build on the successful season she had last season.
The notable absentee from her schedule is Fed Cup, which she has played in the last couple of seasons. Here is the Spaniard’s schedule below:
