When you are Roger Federer, you expect to be winning trophies and titles at a fast rate. However, it is not quite the same for the Swiss legend’s favourite football team.
Federer supports his home-town club FC Basel. Whilst Basel consistently dominate the Swiss league, they have not had quite the same success in Europe. Thus, when Basel secured a quite remarkable victory over Jose Mourinho’s high-profile Manchester United on Wednesday evening, Federer was quick to revel in his team’s rare highlight moment.

Federer is known for his devoted support to the Swiss national team, having given them a rousing talk ahead of the team causing a shock upset over eventual winners Spain in the 2010 FIFA World Cup group stages.
It has been a good year for Federer and his national team. Federer won two Grand Slams, whilst Switzerland secured qualification for the 2014 World Cup finals with a two-legged win over Northern Ireland in the play-offs.
