Reigning Australian Open and Wimbledon champion Roger Federer has revealed he loves to party with his good friend and compatriot Stan Wawrinka.
The current World No. 2 had a phenomenal 2017, winning his 18th and 19th Grand Slam titles in Melbourne and London respectively, and rose to No. 2 in the world rankings after a knee injury kept him out of action for nearly six months in 2016. Federer, who entered the year as the World No. 17 won a tour-best seven trophies during the season which also included 4 consecutive victories over his arch-rival Rafael Nadal.
The former World No.1 is currently training at his home in Basel and will head to Perth at the start of the New Year to participate in the Hopman Cup before starting the defense of his Aussie Open crown in Victoria.
While he is famous for his tough workout on the men’s circuit, Federer is known to be a party animal as well. And that’s why he is quite popular with the players, but, he likes to party with three-time Major winner and his countryman Stan Wawrinka.
On being asked whether he liked to party or not and who was his favorite player to party with, Federer replied: “It’s always funny with Stan Wawrinka. Or with Seve Lüthi. When he is ready, he gives full throttle. Whether the other players are party animals, I can not judge. You meet more on the tennis court than on the dance floor.”
Federer also disclosed that he experienced a weird hangover after his US open win in 2005.
He added: “After the victory on the final Sunday of the US Open 2005 I had a problem. That was not so funny. I only felt fairly normal again on Thursday.”
