Glasgow will play host to two former world No.1 players as Andy Murray takes on Roger Federer in the second edition of his annual charity night.

The Andy Murray Live event will take place at the SSE Hydro Arena for the second consecutive year on Tuesday, November 7th. It raises funds for numerous charities with this year’s two recipients being Unicef and local Scottish charity Sunny-sid3up. Last year the event raised over £300,000.

Tuesday’s clash will see Murray in action for the first time since Wimbledon. The Brit was forced to end his season early due to a hip injury. He tried to stage a comeback at the US Open, but it was unsuccessful. He will take on Federer in a charity singles match in what will be the Swiss Player’s first time playing in Scotland. Proving Murray with an indication of where his level of tennis currently lies after missing a chunk of the tour.

“Andy has been in the gym for a while with his team, working to get back on the court, and in the last three weeks they’ve been hitting balls again and building up to playing in Glasgow.” Murray’s brother Jamie told The Telegraph yesterday.
“I think this has been the longest spell he has had off the tour in his career, so I’m sure he’s excited to be playing a match again. He is someone who loves to compete and this should be a chance for him to test his body out and see how he’s doing. The plan has always been to come back in Australia at the start of the New Year.”

On Monday Murray hosted an all-star dinner party at the same venue where he will take on Federer. Attendees included Sir Chris Hoy, Tim Henman, actor Rob Brydon and chef Albert Roux. Roux was also providing the hospitality for the evening.

The night-time exhibition will feature both singles and doubles matches. First Murray will take on Federer inside the 10,000 seat Glasgow Arena. Then he will partner his brother Jamie in a doubles match against Henman and Mansour Bahrami.

Those unable to watch attend the event can watch the exhibition via Eurosport or on a special live stream at www.facebook.com/AndyMurrayLive.
